The 8U and 9U All-Star teams played in the United States Sports Specialty Association tournament in Conway last weekend.

The Crossett 8U team —coached by Donnie Crow, Jeff Tyler and Joe Rainwater — placed fifth in last weekend’s tournament.

They won their pool plays against Mena 13-6 and Cabot 11-3. In bracket play they beat Hope 13-3 and Heber Springs 22-19. They lost to Dierks 7-5, knocking them out of the bracket.

The players on the 8U team included Maddox Morgan, Brantley Pennington, Slade Barnett, Raylan Miller, Ashyr Crow, Tanner Kennedy, Abbott Crow, Kynden McKee, Ashton Reed, Bryant Coulter, Eythan Knight, Ryder Rainwater, Eli Robinson and Dayton Craig.

The 9U team beat Cleburne County 20-3 and Van Buren 17-2 in pool play. They started the tournament second seed behind Monticello, but lost out in the first bracket play game.

Johnathan Canley, Derek Rodgers, Robin McElroy and Napoleon Brown coached this year’s 9U team.

The players who competed included Samarian Tatum, Eli McElroy, MJ Moore, Jade Canley, Blake Griffith, Easton Sivils, Napolean Brown, Talon Mercer, John Henry Harris, Jaden Jones and Garrett Grissom.

The 10U All-Star team under the coaching of Jeremy Mills, Bryan Huskey, Jeffery Doss and Chris Thompson placed fifth as well.

They lost both of their pool games to Greenwood 14-12 and Tuckerman 11-10, but won their first two bracket games. They beat Lakeside 25-2 and DeWitt 7-6, but fell to Monticello 12-4.

Tayln Weddle, Zion Jones, Noah McElroy, Brady Brooks, Bronx Huskey, Steffon Johnson, JT Barnett, Brady Thompson, Jackson Mills, Silas Sellers, Andrew Hawkins, and Jacob Wiley were the players.
