The Lady Lions lost to the Star City Lady Bulldogs in a close match on the road last week.
Hamburg scored first when Addi Meeks stole home in the top of the first inning.
The Lady Lions took the field and held Star City to one. Cierra Tucker caught the first out in center field, but the second batter hit a triple, setting them up to score. Annah Edwards caught the second out in left field. Tiara Mooney got the third out by snagging a ball on third base, but not before a runner was able to steal home to tie the score.
The Lady Lions came in to bat with the score at one-all.
Neither team scored in the second inning, but in the top of the third the Lady Lions got another run across. Edwards walked on and was able to steal her way around to home to give the Lady Lions a 2-1 lead over the Lady Bulldogs.
In the bottom of the third, the Lady Lions got two quick outs, but two walks set Star City up to score.
An in-the-park home run added three to Star City’s side of the board, giving them the lead 4-2.
No one scored in the fourth inning, but in the top of the fifth Hamburg took the lead back.
Edwards knocked Amari Forrest in with a double. Percy Pennington knocked Meeks in with a hard ground ball to second base to tie the score.
Edwards stole home to give the Lions a 5-4 lead and Pennington stole home to make it 6-4.Briana Huff was left stranded on base, but the Lady Lions took the field still leading by two.
In the bottom of the fifth, the first Lady Bulldog walked on and the second bunted and was thrown out.
Another batter walked, putting a runner on first and third, and the next batter hit a single to bring one run in. The following batter made her way around on a wild throw to tie the score at six-all.
Meeks struck the next batter out to put two outs on the board, but Star City was still able to get another run across before the Lady Lions could get three.
A double brought in a Star City Run to make the score 7-6 and the Lady Eagles came in to start the sixth trailing by one.
The Lady Lions had two outs on the board and a runner on base when Edwards walked on base.
Forrest was able to steal home to tie the score and Edwards stole home to give the Lions an 8-7 lead.
Pennington lined out to second base and the Lady Lions took the field to finish the sixth up by one run.
In the bottom of the sixth, two runners walked on, but the catcher caught one stealing to get the first out.
Forrest caught the second out on short stop and Pennington caught the third out in left field.
The Lady Lions came in to bat still leading by one.
Mooney got on with a single, but was left stranded on base and the Lady Lions took the field to end the game.
The first two batters hit singles and the next one was hit by the pitcher to load the bases.
A runner stole home to tie the score and then another runner stole home for the win and the Lady Bulldogs walked off with a 9-8 win over the Lady Lions.
The Lady Lions were scheduled to play Warren at home last Friday and to host Crossett on March the 20, but both games were canceled per the Arkansas Athletic Association.
It is unclear at this time if there will be any more sporting events played this season.
