The Hamburg Lion softball team officially ended its season last week.
The Lady Lions finished the regular season with four consecutive wins, but their streak ended with the first postseason game.
On Thursday, the Lady Lions faced the Nashville Scrapperettes in the regional tournament in Magnolia.
The Lady Lions hit the ball, but the Nashville defense made no errors. They took the Lady Lions three up, three down all five innings of play.
Marlee Tomerlin opened the game with a fly ball to left field that was caught followed by two more Hamburg outs.
The Scrapperettes only scored two in the bottom of the first inning. Cierra Tucker caught the first out in centerfield, but there were already two runners on base. Huff threw the next batter out, but not before the first runner made her way around to home plate. A second Nashville runner stole home before Percy Pennington caught the third out in left field.
In the bottom of the second, the first Nashville batter grounded out to Bri Huff on second and the second batter grounded out to Tierra Mooney on third.
The Scrapperettes got a runner on with a line drive to center, but Marlee Tomerlin struck the next batter out to bring the Lady Lions in to bat.
In the bottom of the third, the Scapperettes jumped up seven to zero and the game was downhill for the Lady Lions after that.
The Lady Lions held the Scrappeettes to only two runs in the bottom of the fourth and only one run in the bottom of the fifth, but they couldn’t get their own bats moving.
The game ended in the fifth inning with a final score of 10-0.
The Lady Lions ended their season with record of 13-11 overall and 6-6 in conference.
They finished third in the 4A Region 8 conference behind Magnolia and Monticello and in front of Warren, Star City, Crossett and Camden Fairview.
This year’s departing seniors are Sarah Harrod, Trinity Lewis, Belle Hicks, Madison Edwards and Marlee Tomerlin.
