The Lady Eagle softball team beat Monticello last week, but fell to Parker’s Chapel on the road Monday night.
Last week, the Lady Eagles came from behind to beat the Lady Billies by three.
In the top of the first, the Lady Billies scored two runs before the Lady Eagles could get three outs.
The Lady Eagles went three up, three down in the bottom of the first and didn’t score in the bottom of the second. Lainey Taunton got on with a single to center field, but was left stranded on base.
In the top of the third, Monticello scored two more runs, giving them a 4-0 lead.
The Lady Eagles went three up, three down again in the bottom of the third. Sunni Beth Lee and Jenna Roberts both grounded out to short and Anna Atchinson struck out.
In the top of the fourth the Lady Billies went three up, three down. Mary Kate Armstrong caught a line drive on the mound and then struck the second batter out. Atchinson grabbed a ball in left field for the third out and the Lady Eagles came in to bat.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Eagles finally put a few runs on the board. Abby Senn and Jayden Thurmon both reached base on error and then Addison Christy moved them around with a sacrifice bunt.
Taunton hit a single to knock Senn in and bring Thurmon around to third. Thurmon scored on a passed ball, giving the Lady Eagles another run. Lexie Cameron batted Taunton in to make the score 4-3.
Lee hit a double to bring Armstrong’s courtesy runner in to tie the score and Roberts knocked Lee around to give the Lady Eagles a 5-4 lead.
The Lady Eagles held the Lady Billies to three up, three down in the top of the fifth. Roberts caught a fly in center field, Thurmon caught an out on shortstop and Armstrong threw a batter out from the mound.
In the bottom of the fifth, Thurmon opened with a home run hit to make the score 6-4. Christy grounded out and Taunton walked on. Armstrong moved Taunton around and Cameron knocked her in for the final run of the game.
On Monday, the Lady Eagles traveled to Parker’s Chapel and lost by six.
The Lady Eagles were trailing 7-0 in the top of the fifth when Senn finally knocked Lee in for the first Lady Eagle run.
Taunton knocked Lynsy Foreman in and Senn was brought in on a walk because the bases were loaded. The Lady Eagles returned to the field trailing 7-3.
Parker’s Chapel walked one on and hit a single, setting them up to score another run. Senn caught an out in center field, Cameron caught an out in right and Armstrong struck a batter out to bring the Lady Eagles in to bat.
Thurmon knocked Lee in to home during the top of the sixth, but Parker’s Chapel scored three more runs in the bottom half of the inning to make the score 11-4.
In the top of the seventh, Christy and Dalton Barnett both reached base on error and Christy was able to steal home on a passed ball for the Lady Eagles last run of the game, making the final score 11-5.
The Lady Eagles played Hampton on Tuesday but results weren’t available at press time.
The Lady Eagles will host Star City on Thursday for their final regular season game of the year.
