The Crossett Lady Eagles  beat the Fordyce Lady Redbugs 6-0 in Fordyce Friday night.

The Lady Eagles went three up, three down in the top of the first, but came out and played defense to keep the score zero-all.

Jenna Cate Roberts caught an out in center field. Lainey Taunton grabbed an out on second base and Abby Senn threw a runner out from third to take the Lady Eagles back in to bat.

They couldn’t get their bats moving, though, and took the field to finish the second inning.

Jayden Thurmon threw the first out from shortstop. Mary Kate Armstrong stuck a batter out and then caught a line drive on the mound for the third out.

The Lady Eagles went in to start the third and finally got a run across.

Senn reached first by error and was knocked in with a triple by Taunton.

Jayden Thurmon followed with a triple that took Taunton home, but was herself left stranded on base.

The Lady Eagles continued to hold Fordyce and in the top of the fifth got another run across when Taunton knocked Roberts in.

Allie Thurmon hit a hard double to bat Taunton in to make the score 5-0, but she and Addison Christy were both left stranded on base after the third out.

The Eagle defense got three up, three down and went in to score again in the sixth inning.

Senn stole home to give the Eagles their sixth run, the final score of the night.

The Lady Eagles got three up, three down in the bottom of the sixth and bottom of the seventh to finalize their win.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Magnolia on Thursday and will start in a tournament in El Dorado on Friday. Their first bracket game is at 6 p.m. against Hermitage. If they win that they will play another game directly following it against the winner of the Smackover-Camden matchup, will be played at 4:30 p.m. Friday.
