The Crossett Lady Eagles softball team lost by two when they hosted the Lady Hermits of Hermitage Friday.
The Hermits scored five in the top of the first.
After one Crossett batter was out, Jayden Thurmon hit a double to move Abbey Senn from first to third.
Two strikeouts left Thurmon and Senn stranded on base and the girls hit the field with no score.
Thurmon scooped up the first out on short and Dalton Barnett caught a pop fly in right field for the second. The fourth batter grounded out to Thurmon and the Lady Eagles came into bat.
Anna Claire Atchison knocked the first Lady Eagle run in with a single to center field that brought Lexie Cameron to home plate.
With a runner on first and third, Lynsy Foreman put down a sacrifice bunt to eliminate the chance of double play. The sacrifice moved Addison Christy to third and Atchison to second.
Abbey Senn knocked both runners in with a single to short stop. Sunni Beth Lee laid down a bunt and was thrown out at first, but Senn advanced to second.
Thurmon walked, but was caught stealing second and the Lady Eagles took the field trailing 5-3.
The first two Hermits made it on base, but the Lady Eagles got the next three batters out without letting anyone cross home plate.
The girls came into bat, but went three up three down and returned to the field with 5-3 still on the scoreboard.
The first Hermit batter of the inning walked, but Thurmon turned a double play and then got the third out on the next hit when she was hit another grounder.
The girls came into bat and this time tied the score with a double by Christy and a homerun by Atchison.
In the top of the fifth the Lady Eagles held the Hermits to no score, but came in and went three up three down.
In the sixth inning both teams went three up and three down and went into the seventh tied.
In the top of the seventh, Thurmon threw the first batter out at second, but a walk and error put two Hermits on base.
A double knocked both runners in and the Hermits led 7-5. Another walk and error on the Lady Eagles brought another Hermit in to make the score 8-7.
Foreman struck out the next better, but walked one on base. The next hit knocked in another Hermit score and the Lady Eagles came into bat trailing by 4.
Thurmon started the Lady Eagles off with a hard ground ball to left and Lexie Taunton followed with a line drive single that knocked Thurmon home.
Mary Kate Armstrong walked, but three strikeouts left her stranded on base and the final score went into the books 9-6.
The Lady Eagles played Monticello on Tuesday night, but results were not available at press time. The Lady Eagles will host Magnolia at 4 p.m. Thursday.
