The junior high Crossett Eagles ended their season last Thursday with a win against the Hamburg Lions.
Quarterback Tyrique Jones led the Eagles to victory, throwing five touchdown passes.
Devon Montgomery scored the first Eagle touchdown of the game, and the score was 8-0 as the clock rolled into the second quarter. Jaden Williams caught the second touchdown pass for the Eagles early in the second quarter, followed by a two-point conversion that was good.
The score was 16-0, but the Lions answered with a touchdown, making the score 16-6.
The Eagles were able to score two more times before the half. Jones completed a pass to Montgomery, who ran from mid-field to the end zone. They were unable to complete the two-point conversion, however, bringing the score to 22-6.
Cooper Williams caught a touchdown pass right before the half, and the two-point conversion was good, taking the score to 30-6.
In the third quarter, Williams caught another pass deep in Lion territory and ran it in for six more points.
The two-point attempt was unsuccessful, but the Eagles were still only a touchdown away from forcing the mercy rule.
Neither team scored in the fourth quarter and the final score was 36 -6. The Junior Eagles ended their season 8-1.
The seventh grade Eagles played their last game of the season as well, but lost 16-6 to the seventh grade Hamburg Lions.
