The Eagles basketball teams prepare to face the Hamburg Lions this week after losses on the road last week.
The boys lost 72-61, but Coach Dominic Lincoln said it was the Eagles’ best game so far this season.
“This was our best game of executing, by far, this season,” Lincoln said.
Lincoln said the difference in the game came down to rebounds and the Eagles missing the outside shots.
“Camden is a really good team and it’s tough to beat them at their place,” Lincoln said.
Jaylon Brown scored 23 points for the Eagles and sophomore Derrick Luckey put up 22 points.
Lincoln named them both player of the week.
“I’m just really proud of my guys for being 1-7 in conference play and still playing really hard and practicing the right way,” Lincoln said. “(It) shows a lot about their character. We are building a program.”
The Lady Eagles lost 8-7 to the Magnolia Panthers last Tuesday night in Magnolia.
The game showed improvement for the Lady Eagles, who lost by 13 points in the last Panther versus Eagle matchup.
Both Eagle teams played Warren on Tuesday night, but results were not available at press time.
Both Crossett teams will travel to Hamburg on Friday to face the Hamburg Lions and compete for two more points in the James D. Rankin rivalry competition.
