The Crossett Eagle baseball team played three road games over the break, claiming one victory and suffering two defeats.

The Eagles played Pine Bluff on Friday and kept a big lead the entire game.

In the seventh inning Pine Bluff was able to get three runs across to make the score 8-4 and it looked like they could start a rally, but the Eagles managed to pull away with an 8-4 win.

Chase Golden was on the mound for the Eagles with Jack Rice coming in for a relief inning.

The Eagles started the first inning with two up, two down, but were still able to get six runs across the plate before the third out.

Chase Golden hit a single that got the Eagles going and Mason Taunton knocked him in with a triple.

Jackson Moore followed with a single and the Eagles just kept rolling around the bases until a strikeout took them out on the field leading 6-0.

The Eagles got three quick outs and returned to the dugout and out to bat, getting another run across in the top of the second.

The Eagles scored another run in the top of the third, but the score sat at 8 for the rest the game as the Eagles didn’t score at all in the last three innings.

A line drive to left field knocked in three runs for Pine Bluff in the seventh inning, making the final score 8-4 in Crossett’s favor.

On Saturday the Eagles lost to North Little Rock and Beebe.

The North Little Rock game ended up a 12-2 score. The Eagles did a little better in the Beebe game, hanging on and only losing by one during a 7-6 heartbreaker.

The Eagles started out in the lead and at the top of the third were winning 6-0.

The rest of the game was scoreless for the Eagles, but Beebe got motivated and sent in two runs in the bottom of the fourth and added two more in the fifth, making it a two-point ball game.

In the bottom of the sixth they were able to take the lead. The Eagles weren’t able to get their bats going in response, and the game closed with Beebe on top.

The Eagles hosted Warren on Tuesday night, but results were not available at press time.

The Eagles will travel to Watson Chapel on Thursday and to Monticello on Friday.

Their next home game is April 9.
