Sometimes Crossett can win a game without even playing.
Both the Lady Eagles and Eagles were credited with a win last week after the Magnolia Panthers forfeited.
The only game the teams played last week was in Camden, where the boys lost by one point to the Camden Cardinals on Friday night.
While the Eagles had an early lead that they maintained for most of the game, it was never a comfortable margin.
Following the opening whistle, Jack Rice took to the boards and scored a three-pointer to put the Eagles on the board first. The Eagles ended the first quarter up 14-9 and were still up by two points at the half, 24-22. They ended the third quarter up 38-36.
The Eagles stayed in the lead by two to four points for most of the fourth quarter, but mid-way through the Cardinals took the lead, 44-42. They were still ahead 53-50 with seconds on the clock the Eagles were able to put in another basket. The buzzer sounded before Crossett was able to tie the score, however, and the game ended with the scoreboard reading 53-52.
The Eagles played their last home game of the season and celebrated senior night on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time.
The Lady Eagles also played the Warren Lumberjacks in Crossett on Tuesday for possibly their last home game of the season as well.
Both teams will travel to Hamburg on Friday to play what could be their last game if there are no makeup games and there is no regional tournament.
