The Crossett Lady Eagles started their softball season with a win against Dumas on Monday night.

Crossett pitcher Mary Kate Armstrong gave up zero runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out five and walking none.

Dumas got one base hit in the first inning, but the runner was thrown out by left fielder Anna Harris on the next play.  

In the bottom half, Jenna Cate Roberts walked on base, but was left stranded.

The second inning saw no score and Allie Thurmon snagged all three outs on shortsop for Crossett.

In the bottom of the third the Lady Eagles finally started to get runs across.

Abby Senn got a base hit to right field. Roberts hit a fly ball to center for the first out and Lainie Taunton grounded out to short stop. 

Addison Christy knocked Senn in with a fly ball to center field for the first run of the game. 

Mary Kate Armstrong got on base,  but she and Christy were both left stranded when the Dumas shortstop caught a pop up for the third out. 

In the top of the fourth, the first batter led with a base hit, but Harris  threw her out when she attempted to take second. 

Another runner got on base, but a Senn threw a runner out from third and Armstrong struck a batter out to bring the Lady Eagles in to bat.

The Lady Eagles didn’t get any runs across in the bottom of the fourth, but scored four in the bottom of the fifth.  

Senn and Roberts were both on base when Taunton hit one to shortstop to bring Senn for a run and move Roberts to third.

Christy knocked Roberts in and moved Taunton to third. Thurmon knocked Taunton in and moved Christy around to third and Lana Carter hit a double to bring Christy and Thurmon both home, giving the Lady Eagles six runs. 

The Lady Eagle defense held Dumas off for another inning and came back in the bottom of the sixth to score three more runs. 

Taunton knocked Senn  in and moved Roberts around to third base. 

Christy grounded out, but knocked Roberts in to give the Lady Eagles 8.  Thurmon hit a triple to bring Taunton around to home for the final run of the night.

The Lady Eagles finished with a final score of 9-0. 

Taunton, Christy and Thurmon each had two hits and three Runs Batted In. 

The Lady Eagles hosted El Dorado on Tuesday night, but results were not available at press time.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Fordyce on Thursday to face the Redbugs. 

They will also travel to Monticello and Magnolia next week.
