Ashley Brewton has been crowned the 2022 Miss Crossett PRCA Rodeo Queen.
Brewton was initially the runner-up in the pageant, but a news release from the Crossett Riding Club’s board of directors said that the previously crowned queen was unable to uphold the responsibilities of the title, leading the board to crown Brewton on Aug. 30.
Brewton will carry the title for the remainder of the 2022 season and into the 75th annual Crossett PRCA Rodeo, which is set for May 31 to June 3, 2023, at which time she will pass it to the next queen.
Brewton, 17, is a senior at Dewitt High School, and the daughter of Thomas and Jennifer Gray. An honor roll student, she has been accepted into the Medical Application of Science for Health Program.
She is also a member of the Dewitt High School Homecoming court, and active in the Arkansas County Livestock 4-H Club.
“When she’s not helping with hay and row crop farming on her family’s farm, Ashley enjoys riding and training horses, rodeoing, hunting, fishing, spending time with her family and serving the Lord,” the news release read.
“Ashley is a former Miss Grant County Rodeo Queen and was 1st runner up to Arkansas State Fair Rodeo Queen in 2021.
“She has earned several awards from the Arkansas County Riding Club for High Point and All-Around Champion and in 2019 was Top Five at the Arkansas State Championship Horse Show. Ashley is a member of Faith Baptist Church, where she is an active member of the youth group. She also currently serves as Arkansas County Livestock 4-H club president.
“Ashley’s goal as Miss Crossett PRCA Rodeo is to promote the sport of rodeo in a positive and inspiring way. In doing so, she hopes to encourage the younger generation that you can achieve anything you set your mind to. Dedication, hard-work and faith will set you toward the path of achieving your goals.”
Grace Edmonson, 14, of Dewitt, will continue to serve as 2022 Teen Miss Crossett PRCA Rodeo.
“The Crossett Riding Club is proud to have these two ladies representing and promoting our local rodeo throughout the coming year and look forward to a fantastic 75th Crossett PRCA Rodeo,” the news release read.
