The Crossett Middle School Eagles beat Bearden 10-0 and 5-2 in their double header season opener on Monday night.
In the first game, Max Brooks pitched for the Eagles and shut out Bearden.
The Eagles got a jump early and were leading 5-0 in the bottom of the first.
Brooks tagged up to score the first run and O’Bryan Bankston knocked Kaden McCloy in for the second run. Jackson Hicks hit a single to get on and then stole his way around to home for the third run. Bankston and Blake Burford both scored on passed balls.
Max Brooks took the mound and struck three batters out to bring the Eagles back into bat.
Burford hit a single with the bases loaded to bring Taylin Paskel into home plate and Morgan grounded out to short but brought Hicks in to make the score 7-0.
In the top of the third, Brooks struck out two batters and Bankston grabbed a grounder on third base to get the third out.
The Eagles came in to bat still leading 7-0.
Eli McElroy hit a single to start the Eagles off in the bottom of the third and was knocked in with a triple by Brooks.
Bearden walked the bases loaded and then walked Brooks around to home to make the score 9-0. Morgan hit a single to bring McCloy in for the final run of the game.
In the top of the fourth, McCloy went in as pitcher. The first batter lined out to Bankston on third and McCloy struck the next two batters out.
The Eagles declined to bat in the fourth inning making the final score 10-0.
In the second game Bearden scored first when a runner was able to steal his way around to home in the first inning, but the junior Eagles still manged to come out on top.
The Eagles took the lead back in the bottom of the first inning.
Will Harrington and Garrett White both walked on base. Harrington got around on a pass ball and Drew White hit a triple to bring Garrett in for the second Eagle run.
Drew was able to make his way around before the third out and the junior Eagles took the field leading 3-1.
The Eagles held off Bearden, but didn’t score again until the bottom of the third.
Harrington got on with a double and scored on a passed ball.
Drew got on base with an error from Bearden and Eli McElroy knocked him in with a triple.
The Eagles took the field to start the fourth leading 5-1.
Blake Morgan struck two batters out, but Bearden was able to get a run across by error, making the score 5-2 when the Eagles came into bat.
The Eagles went three up three down in the bottom of the fourth and declined to bat in the bottom of the fifth making the final score 5-2.
The CMS Eagles will travel to Camden Fairview on Thursday to face the Cardinals before they then travel to Parkers Chapel for a game on Monday.
The CMS Eagles will play at home again on March 10 when they host the Drew Central Pirates.
