The Crossett tennis teams traveled Monday night to Magnolia, where the girls didn’t lose a singles match, but the boys didn’t win one.

Jayden Thurmon, Mary Kate Armstrong, and Desiree Sivek each won their singles matches against Magnolia opponents.

Thurmon and Armstrong each won 8-0 and Sivek beat her opponent 6-1.

The girls were unable to get a win in their doubles matches and lost three matches, each by four points.

The boys team didn’t win a singles or a doubles match. The singles matches were played by Carson McDonald, Grant Roberson and Kenneth Mott.

Coach Grant Collins said that he was proud that his team never showed any signs of giving up and they hung with Magnolia even when falling behind.

“Magnolia is always a tough opponent. but this year was definitely an improvement on last year,” Collins said. “As always, I am more than proud of my players and their determination to do whatever it takes.”

The tennis team will travel to Smackover on Thursday to face the Buckaroos.
