The Crossett High School golf teams started their seasons earlier this month with matches in Smackover and Camden. They played a home last Tuesday.

In Smackover, the girls team won with a score 161. Of all teams playing, Cooper Williams scoring the best overall with a score of 44.

Coach Dustin Wolcott said the team played 18 holes instead of the usual nine in Camden, but they still did well. Williams had the best overall with a score of 87 and Robbie Jo Freeman, on the girls team, was right behind him with 83.

Last week the CHS team hosted a match at the Prairie Country Club golf course in Crossett. Warren and Hamburg were the visiting teams.

The CHS girls won with Freeman having the best overall score with a 49.

The Warren team won the boys division. The CHS boys didn’t qualify to be scored as a team, but Williams scored a 40, which was the best overall in the boys division.

Wolcott said the team is constantly improving and he is looking forward to the season.

The Eagles played in Monticello on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time.

This year’s players are Brady Holt, Williams, Anna Claire Strebeck, Freeman, Anna White, Lexie Meeks and Blake Krane.

Their next match will be for nine holes and is scheduled for Aug. 27 in McGehee.

The match on Sept. 3 is set to start at 3:30 p.m. and the one on Sept. 7 will begin at 1:30 p.m.
