The Crossett School Board approved the purchases of nearly $1 million in furniture and technology purchases for the school district on Monday night.

Technology upgrades for the new high school building, which is currently under construction, were brought before the school board and the board approved all of the requests. Other approvals included technology that would be placed the other school buildings.

Some of the purchases approved include new smart boards and accessories for all of the new high school classrooms for approximately $122,469 and 369 Chromebooks for the Elementary and Middle School for approximately $85,000.

The District plans to send 104 Chromebooks to Crossett Elementary School and 265 Chromebooks to Crosett Middle School for the seventh and eighth graders to use on the Summit program. The Chromebooks will require a monitoring software subscription that will cost approximately $3,000 to allow the teachers and administrators to closely monitor the student’s Web use.

The board also approved a proposal for $275, 542 to purchase 325 desktop computers and various technology for the new high school building and approximately $199,000 to purchase new furniture for the classrooms and teachers.
