Alberta Flentroy’s Hamburg High School Parenting and Child Development classes recently completed the Safe Sitter Course from the Ashley County Medical Center.

Shawna Hawkins and Laurie Kilcrease, who are registered nurses at ACMC, taught the course.

Safe Sitter is a class that teaches students safety skills, child care skills, life and business skills, behavior management skills, online safety skills, first-aid and rescue skills, and infant and child CPR.

Statistics show more than 200 documented cases where a Safe Sitter-certified babysitter saved a child or children’s lives.

Both classes received a Certificate of Completion and are now Certified Safe Sitters.
