The Hamburg High School Band and Color Guard attended a competition at the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Oct. 8.

The competition involved teams from both in and outside of Arkansas. During the five hour event, many bands showcased their abilities. Each band was tasked to give a performance of their highest quality.

The HHS Band performed an eight-to-10 minute live show with the songs “Zorro,” “Panther,” and “Phantom of the Opera.”

Each section of the band was allowed to show off their skills to receive a score on a five-point scale. The Auxiliary Color Guard received a 1 for superior performance.

Percussion received a 2 for excellent performance and the drum major received a 1 for superior performance. The band as a whole received a 2 for excellent performance.

The band as a whole also received three separate trophies and were held with high praise.

The HHS band saw the chance to compete in the event as a good experience.

“The competition was an amazing experience,” said senior Walker Davis.
