Crossett eighth grader Trinity Foster spelled her way through the 11th round of the Arkansas State Spelling Bee in Conway on Saturday, placing fourth overall in the statewide tournament.

Foster’s finish is the highest a student from Ashley County has placed in recent memory.

While Foster didn’t qualify for the National Spelling Bee at the state tournament, she has a second chance through RSVBee, a new program begun last year that allows certain school and county winners to apply on a type of lottery system. Foster will find out on March 27 if she is chosen.
