Crossett High School Eagle senior athletes have started greeting the elementary students of Crossett School District in the morning car rider line on home game days.

The senior football players, cheerleaders and Eaglettes are placed at Crossett Elementary School or Crossett Learning Center to greet and visit the students of these schools before every home game. Parents and students may see the seniors wearing their jerseys or uniforms. They help the students out of the car by opening the car door and escorting them into the building.

Some students have seemed scared at first, but as the seniors greet them and sometimes take pictures — with parental permission— the younger students appear to lose their fears.

“I love when the football players come and greet the children,” Crossett Elementary Principal Veronica Robinson said.

She has provided donuts for the players, cheerleaders, and Eaglettes.

“This is a good thing for the football players because it helps support us and motivates the kids to cheer and to help us win,” senior football player Cody Mounce said.
