Danni Dolan placed first in the prepared public speaking contest in the Feb. 7 FFA Leadership conference at Drew Central High School.

Dolan’s speech was titled “Feeding America.” She was required to write and deliver a speech that had to be six to eight minutes long, and after her speech she was required to answer questions about her topic for five minutes.  She will now advance to the district contest in April.

Haley Myers placed sixth in discussion meet, in which the student is assigned a topic and — in a group of four to six peers — they must discuss the topic. The winner is determined on how much information they give in the discussion.

Brady Blankenship placed fifth in extemporaneous public speaking. During the contest, he had a limited time to prepare a speech on a topic that he chose, deliver the speech and answer questions.
