Crossett High School Student Xavier Brown has been elected the District 4 Vice President of Community Service of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
Crossett High School Sponsor Brandy Thomas took CHS President Fredreunna Scott, Co- President Treyveon Chatman, Vice President Anastasia Caldwell, and Brown — who is the club secretary — to Pine Bluff, on Oct. 2 while Brown ran for district office.
The FCCLA convention was at the Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative. As a part of their officer campaign, candidates were able to present a speech to the other FCCLA students.
A district officer ranks higher than school officers because they lead the entire district of 39 schools and five divisions. Brown said that during his year as a district officer, he plans to make great strides in extending the influence outside of the district.
“I hope that I can make a difference in our community and other areas as well.” he said. “Community service is very valuable, and can be used as a tool.”
Brown said he decided to take on this opportunity as a great way to get involved in something that he feels very passionate about.
“ I believe I have the ability to make a change in terms of community service,” he said
