Plane crashes at Jack Stell Field

A single-plane crash at the Jack Stell Field Airport at approximately 9 a.m. Monday prompted a response from Ashley County emergency services and law enforcement. Though the plane flipped and skidded upside down before coming to a stop in the grassy area off the runway, the pilot – Jerry Osment – escaped without major injuries, fire department officials said. Federal Aviation Administration officials have been notified of the crash, which is under investigation. The Crossett and Unity-Frost Prairie fire departments responded to the scene, as did the Crossett Police Department, the Ashley County Sheriff’s Department and ProMed Ambulance.
