William Carter

William “Billy” Ralph Carter, 88, of The Woodlands, Texas, died on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2019.  He was born in Crossett, to Ben S. and Emma A. Geddie Carter on June 6, 1931.  He was a pastor and of the Baptist faith. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Scott Carter; three brothers, Conrad, Lewis and Ben Carter and two sisters, Elaine and Norma Carter.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shirley  Carter of The Woodlands; two sons, William Phillip Carter and spouse Joanne of Magnolia, Texas, and Todd Geddie Carter and spouse Kerri of Olive Branch, Miss.; one daughter, Sharon Lea Moore and spouse Steven of Pryor, Okla.; seven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; along with a number of friends and loved ones.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, at Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Fred Selby officiating. 

Interment will follow in Carter Cemetery in Crossett. 

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Moore, Peyton Carter, Matthew Moore, Ernest Butler, Gary Wheeler and Landon Stanley. 

Honorary pallbearer is Nathan Carter. 

Visitation is 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carter Cemetery c/o Lewis Carter, 207 North Briggs St., Oak Grove, LA  71263.
