JOYCE MCELROY

Joyce McElroy, 81, of Crossett, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020.  Mrs. McElroy was a 1957 graduate of Crossett High School.  She was a Registered Nurse, having worked at Ashley County Medical Center for 20 years and Morehouse General Hospital for 10 years.  Mrs. McElroy was a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church.  

She was preceded in death by two sons, Jerry Dale McElroy and Alan McElroy; her parents, Dewey Benton and Lonia Mae Burchell Murphy and a brother, Bobby Glen Murphy.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Ricks and husband, David, of Hamburg and Kathy Harcrow of Crossett; a son, Robin McElroy and wife, Mandy, of Crossett; 15 grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were 10 a.m., Oct. 9, in the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Mike Griffith officiating. 

A private burial followed in the Carlock Cemetery.  

Honorary pallbearers were Dale Barnett, Bryan Huskey, Matthew McElroy, Ethan McElroy, Luke Ricks, Alan Burney, Eli McElroy and Bronx Huskey.  

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
