James Martin

James “J.J.” Martin, 77, of Crossett died July 4, 2019, at the Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born on Jan. 26, 1942, to his parents Green and Ouida Miller Martin. He was a truck driver for 25 years and attended Mt. Pelum Baptist Church

James was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Kathrine Sawyer, Christine Brown, Ernestine Brooks, and Hazeline Foster; one brother, MacArthur Martin; one granddaughter, Jasmine Lee Turner; and one stepson, Michael Brown.

Survivors include his wife Mary Jean Martin of Crossett, one brother, Leroy Martin and wife, Aquanetta, of Crossett, two daughters, Latonya Tolefree of Opelika, Ala., and Sheila Turner and husband, Verner, of Kansas City, Mo.; one step-daughter, Shaun Brown of Crossett; four grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A Homegoing Celebration will be 1 p.m. July 19 at at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, Crossett, followed by interment at Quinn Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Medders Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. July 18 at Medders Funeral Home.
