Gene E. Hazlewood, 78, of Crossett, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020.  Mr. Hazlewood was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was a Court Clerk for the Harris County, Texas District Clerks Office. Mr. Hazlewood was a member of the Magnolia Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Louise Harper Hazlewood; a niece, Debbie Brown and a nephew, Trey Kirsten.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Cole Hazlewood; two daughters, Gina Brockwell and husband, Tony, and Gretchen Hazlewood and fiancé, Jon Defee, all of Crossett; a sister, JoNell Hazlewood Duke of Houston, Texas; his aunt, Mary Gene Harper of Belton, Texas; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert Cole and wife, Martha, and Martin Kristen and wife, Kay, all of Crossett; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Atkinson of New Caney, Texas; three grandchildren; six nieces and two nephews.

Graveside services were 10 a.m., Oct. 12, in the Crossroads Cemetery with Bro. Mike Griffith and Bro. Lester Hutson officiating.  

Honorary pallbearers were Willie Washington, Allen Jackson, Lloyd Dean Leonard, Danny Barton, Dean Holland, Owen Williams, Randy Townley, Harold Brumley, Charles Stell, Billy Mac Watt, Billy Norrell, Ernie Thompson, David Alsworth, Harold Ellis and Ted Aaron.  

Memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 111, PO Box 2167, Crossett, AR  71635.  

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
