A Monroe woman died in a wreck in which her vehicle caught fire on U.S. 425 South Thursday evening.

The fatal crash report from the Arkansas State Police said that Georgiana Emfinger, 71, of Monroe as driving northbound in a 2004 GMC at the time of the crash.

The report said that the vehicle left the right side of the roadway while in a construction zone. 

After traveling up an embankment, the vehicle became airborne, crashing into a ditch and rolling onto the passenger side.

The report said that the GMC then became engulfed in flames.

The Ashley County coroner pronounced her dead at the scene.

Weather conditions at the time of the wreck were clear and dry, according to the report.

Trooper Tyler W. Gentry investigated the incident.
