A Wilmot resident was killed in a vehicle collision near the Desha County and Drew County lines Friday.

Arkansas State Police reports said that Donald Douglas Mannings, 55, of Wilmot, died as the result of injuries received in a two-vehicle wreck at approximately 1:54 p.m. Feb. 22.

Manning was driving a 1994 Lincoln traveling south on Highway 65 near Tillar with one passenger, Betty Jean Mooney of of Montrose. Manning’s vehicle hydroplaned, causing it to skid into the northbound traffic lane. A 2005 GMC driven by Jeffery Allen Lambert 39, of Dumas, which was traveling north, struck the Lincoln on the driver’s side.

The report states that the road conditions were wet and that it was raining at the time of the accident.

Mooney and Lambert were both transported to the hospital with injuries, but specific details about their injuries were not released.

No other information was available at press time.
