Streeter starts work as mayor Tuesday evening

Hamburg Mayor David Streeter accepts a hug of congratulations after taking the oath of office at the Ashley County Courthouse on June 15. Streeter was elected last week, and took the election with a narrow victory, 270 to 265 votes, against Keith Long. When the election was certified, the results remained the same as the unofficial numbers first given on election night. Streeter was elected to finish out the term vacated by late the Mayor Dane Weindorf; the term will last though Dec. 31, 2022. Immediately after the swearing-in, Streeter attended his first meeting with the City Council. (VERSHAL HOGAN/News Observer)
