The filing deadline for the November election passed with no one seeking a position on the ballot for three of the Hamburg city council seats.
Mayor Dane Weindorf said in Monday night’s council meeting that since no one filed to run for those spots, the current council members would continue to serve in those spots unless they resigned.
Two of those who didn’t file are in Ward 1. Beverly Mays holds position 1 in Ward 1 and Daniel Shelton holds position 2.
In Ward 2, Derenda Stanley, incumbent, filed to run for re-election of position two, but Mike Sanderlin of position 1 did not file to re-run.
Deanne Murphy filed to run for re-election of Ward 3 position 1, but Sue Nolan — who currently sits in position two — did not file. Drew Foote will be running unopposed for her seat.
Crossett, Parkdale and Fountain Hill all have contested city council races.
In Crossett, Chris Gill and Glendell Moore are running for the Ward 2 Position 2 seat. Dale Martinie currently fills the seat, but did not file for re-election. He was running for mayor during the filing period.
Two incumbents will have contested races this year.
Alyssia Le Wise filed to run against councilman Cary Lee Carter for Ward 3 Position 1, and Christopher Friedman filed to run against councilman James Knight for Ward 3 Position 2.
The three other sitting Crossett council members will not face a challenge this fall. Longtime council member C.T. Foster — who has served more than 20 years — Sheila Phillips and Kerstin Mondragon will hold their positions and be elected unopposed.
Phillips was appointed mid-term when councilwoman Lynn Rodgers stepped down from the position. Mondragon was appointed this summer when Mayor Crystal Marshall vacated her council seat to serve as interim mayor.
In Fountain Hill. Elizabeth Hubbard and Loretta Woods have filed to run for Fountain Hill Alderman Ward 1 Position 1.
In Parkdale, Bertha Sherrer will run against Raymon Smith for Ward 1 Position 1.
Election Day is Nov. 3.
