A man was shot and killed in North Crossett last week.

Ashley County Sheriff Tommy Sturgeon said Ashley County deputies responded to a fatal shooting on Dec. 16.

According to a report from Deputy Hunter Smith, the shooting happened at approximately 5:35 a.m. in North Crossett.

The incident happened on Mimosa Street. One person was dead following the shooting.

While the sheriff declined to identify the deceased, social media postings from people who said they were family members alleged the victim was Shawn Pollock of Crossett.

Pollock’s mother, Judith Alliene, has posted online that her son was outside the residence where the shooting happened, and alleges that the details of what led to the shooting are disputed. Alliene could not be reached for further comment.

Smith said the deceased’s body is going to be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for autopsy and investigative file will be sent to the 10th Judicial Prosecuting Attorneys Office for review.

Smith declined to give any further details regarding the shooting, and did not name the alleged shooter or what may have led to the incident.
