The Crossest Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire in the 600 block of Beech Street at approximately 5 a.m. Dec. 30. Fire Chief Bo Higginbotham said that crews had the blaze under control within approximately 30 minutes of their arrival. The fire caused significant damage to the structure, and appeared to have originated in the back of the residence. Higginbotham said investigators had not determined the cause of the fire Monday morning.
