The murder trial of a Crossett man that was set for Monday has been pushed back to later in the week.
Brian Russell of Crossett, who was arrested on charges of murder and abuse of a corpse in early 2018, will go before a jury on Thursday morning.
The delay was caused as part of the court’s accommodation for expert witnesses.
The trial was scheduled for the week of Feb. 4, but because of the state crime lab’s schedule, Feb. 7 and 8 were chosen as the dates.
Russell was charged in March 2018 in connection with the death of Shannon Jordan Ridener, who disappeared from the Crossett area in January 2018 and whose body was located near a bridge in a neighboring county the following month.
An autopsy at the state crime lab revealed that Ridener died from a gunshot wound to the head.
Jury selection will begin at 9 a.m. Feb. 7.
