Members of the Crossett community gathered Saturday in the E.C. Crossett Youth Center Park to mark Juneteenth, the celebration of the announcement of the abolition of slavery, with a cookout, prize giveaway and other festivities. The holiday is celebrated as Juneteenth Independence Day on the third Saturday in June in Arkansas.
