Ingevity announced plans to temporarily furlough 34 workers in Crossett in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The furlough, which will begin June 14, will be for six weeks.
An Ingevity spokeswoman said the company has “experienced unprecedented challenges to our business and our plant due to the COVID-19 pandemic” and that the furlough is being issued “in order to secure our long-term future and optimally operate during slow global growth.”
The spokeswoman said the company looks forward to the quick return of employees even as the company maneuvers through the current economic downturn. During the furlough, employees will maintain their health care benefits.
“Our greatest asset is our people,” the spokeswoman said. “As such, furloughed employees will continue to receive medical, dental and vision benefits during this temporary employment delay.”
