The City of Crossett was successful in all three of its eminent domain efforts as part of the East Crossett Sewer Project.

The eminent domain lawsuits, which the city had filed in Ashley County Circuit Court, sought to get construction and permanent easements for three properties in the city. Other necessary easements — which would allow the city access to narrow strips of private property for the purpose of upgrading and maintaining the sewer system — had been acquired, but the city was facing a holdup on the three properties in question.

When the city filed the cases for condemnation through eminent domain in May, Mayor Crystal Marshall said the city had to seek the legal action because no owner alive or person responsible for the properties could be identified as the person with the necessary authority to sign the papers granting the easements.
