The Crossett Area Chamber of Commerce plans to give away more than $15,000 in its 35th Annual Buddy Bass Tournament at the Crossett Port this weekend.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mandy White said on Monday she had 56 teams registered to fish and was still taking in registrations on Monday and will continue through the morning of the tournament. Last year more than 30 teams weighed in for the prize money.
The top 15 teams will take home cash prizes and many others will be eligible for drawings including a new prize offered to father and son or father and daughter teams.
White said the new prize this year is a $200 cash prize in memory of 10-year-old Blade Gilbreath, who died following a bike accident in 2015.
The cash prize will be awarded through a drawing with several other prizes.
Fishers will also be entered to win the Bubba Bussell Memorial, the Jim Stephenson Award and the Ken Taylor Award. The Tim Gilbert Memorial award cash goes to the five smallest fish at weigh in.
White also had a list of door prizes that will be given away, including a large kayak donated by Walmart. The tournament is Saturday, Sept. 12, at the Crossett Harbor. For more information, contact White at 870-364-6591.
