Ashley County Judge Jim Hudson has enacted a burn ban for Ashley County.

The emergency order, signed at 8:25 a.m. Sept. 6, says that because of dry conditions and "extreme fire hazards, all persons in Ashley County are directed to refrain from all outdoor and open burning, grilling and shooting or discharging of any type of fireworks until further notice."

The notice Hudson issued says that the ban will be lifted "after weather and moisture conditions permit."

Hudson's order says that "the cooperation of everyone in Ashley County is urgently needed to prevent destruction and injury by outdoor fires during this dangerous period."

Violation of the ban could result in charges and court fines.
