The National Commander of the American Legion is coming to Crossett for breakfast next week.

Brett P. Reistad was elected national commander of the American Legion on Aug. 30 in Minneapolis during the Legion’s 100th national convention.

Reistad will visit Arkansas Nov. 12 and has it on his itinerary to have breakfast and a meet and greet in Crossett at American Legion Post 111 at 8:30 a.m.

Post 111 First Vice Commander Steve Lochala said the commander will be in town for approximately an hour.

Following the meet and greet, the members of the American Legion and others will then attend the Veteran’s Day parade in Hamburg at 10 a.m. and the ceremony in Hamburg at the courthouse at 11 a.m.

Reistad is a retired police officer and a Vietnam veteran from Virginia, and is a lifelong member of the American Legion. Before being elected as national commander, Reistad was commander of Post 270 in Virginia.
