Britney Spears' mother says she's doing "wonderfully."

The 'Gimme More' hitmaker is currently at the centre of a social media campaign called "#FreeBritney", which was set up by her fans in a bid to free her of her conservatorship, after she accused her father Jamie Spears - who has controlled her finances and life since her breakdown in 2007 - of committing her to a mental health facility against her will last month and forcing her to take drugs.

But, despite having to watch her life play out in public as she takes her father to court, Lynne Spears - who wants to take a bigger role in the conservatorship if it remains in place - is adamant the 37-year-old singer is doing well.

When asked by TMZ photographers in Los Angeles on Monday (05.13.19) how Britney was doing, Lynne simply replied: "Wonderfully."

It was initially thought that the 'Toxic' hitmaker checked herself into an unnamed facility for 30 days after she became "distraught" over her father Jamie's ongoing health battle, which began when he ruptured his colon last November.

However, the pop superstar appeared in front of a judge last Friday (05.10.19) and alleged that Jamie was the one responsible for having her committed to rehab.

She argued that under the rules of the conservatorship Jamie does not have the power to either commit her against her will or make her take prescription pills.

The hearing, which was attended by Britney, her parents and a court-appointed lawyer, was held to assess the need for the singer to remain under the conservatorship of her dad.

According to E!, the judge ordered an expert evaluation of Britney's situation and a status hearing, the star doesn't have to attend, was set for September 18.

Britney - who has two sons, Sean, 13, and Jayden, 12, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline - wants the conservatorship to end or to be granted more freedoms.
