Though rumors have spread through the area that a missing woman from the Crossett area has been located, law enforcement officials said this week that is not the case.
Early this month, the family of Shannon Jordan Ridener contacted the Ashley County Sheriff’s Department to file a missing person report. Ashley County Sheriff Tommy Sturgeon confirmed yesterday that in spite of rumors on social media, Ridener has not been found.
The ASCO has been investigating the case since Jan. 15.
The family reported that Ridener was last seen leaving her father’s house with someone in a white car, but no other information on the white car has been released.
Sturgeon confirmed that Ridener’s purse was found under a bridge and turned over to the ACSD, but said he has no other information to release at this time.
“At this time all of it is speculation,” Sturgeon said.
Sturgeon and his deputies said they are doing everything they can to locate Ridener.
Chief Investigator Josh Pollock said they have obtained warrants in the case and are actively investigating.
“When we have something to update the public with, we will update, but right now the case is still under investigation,” Pollock said. “We are doing everything we can to find her.”
