The festival will kick off Friday night with a gumbo cook-off and a glow run. The cook off will be at the pavilion. Registration for the run will be at McMillan Law Office parking lot on Petersburg Road at 6:30 p.m.
Saturday morning, the day will start early with another run. The annual 5K will start at the Wiggin’s Cabin grounds. Registration begans at 8 a.m.

After the run, guests can watch as children from birth to age 18 compete for the Mr. and Miss Wiggin’s Cabin titles. The pageant activities for the 10 competing age groups will began at 10 a.m.

Crossett’s new disc golf course will be debuted that day as well. Adam Sipes, one of the faces behind the course, is planning to host a grand opening event during the festival.

Sipes said the group will have a table set up at Wiggin’s that day directing people to come check out the new course.

The people who walk down to the course will be able to enter their name in a drawing to win their own set of discs. Sipes said they will give away 10 disc golf starter packs as door prizes.

Sipes said organizers also hope to have a demonstration game that afternoon with teams from Monroe and Monticello participating.

In addition to the sets for the drawing, the city has purchased 50 sets for community use. Sipes said the city will have to finalize the plans for those, but he believes they will be managed by the Parks and Recreation Department.

“The schools or community groups can contact the city to get a set, or several sets, on loan,” Sipes said. “They will need to contact the city for more information on that.”

Other offerings at the Wiggin’s Cabin festival will include food vendors, arts and crafts booth, live entertainment and family fun activities.
