The Crossett girls and boys soccer team showed improvement on the soccer pitch at Yarbrough Field Monday, with the boys claiming their first shutout.
The Senior girls played hard but fell 6-0 to the Monticello Billies team.
“Our girls are improving, but still have a long way to go before we reach the level of play I expect,” Coach Chuck Rawlings said. “They have to do in a game what we do in practice. We lost 6 to 0; our defense needs to get better and also our goalie has to do a much better job.”
The senior boys are getting better each week, Rawlings said.
The Eagles’ Jorge Mondragon scored three of the four goals against the scoreless Billies.
“He seems to get better every time he walks on the field,” Rawlings said. “ Stedrick Putney also played his best game, and Dakota Fletcher did well. This was our first shutout, which was big for us. I feel if we continue to improve, when next year comes and we can compete in the conference, we will do well.”
