Randall Eugene Bivings, 56, of St. Augustine, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 5, 2017. Randy was born on December 12, 1960, at East Coast Hospital in St. Augustine, FL to Gene “Sonny” and Nancy Bivings. Randy spent his childhood and teenage years in Palatka before moving to Crossett, AR with his family where he graduated from Crossett High School in 1978. From there he ventured north to The University of Arkansas where he graduated in 1984 with a degree in Accounting. While at the U of A, Randy was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and he also grew to become a lifelong fan of the Razorback athletic department.
Randy began his career in accounting right after college and eventually achieved the distinction as a CPA with licenses to practice in Arkansas, Georgia, and Florida. He quickly rose through the ranks of the corporate ladder eventually becoming a partner in the firm Wilcox & Bivings, PC in Atlanta, GA. In 2006, the beaches of St. Augustine called him home, and he moved back to the place he loved where he opened his own practice, Randall E. Bivings, CPA, PA.
Randy was very passionate about the many things he loved in his life. In particular, he had a tenacious spirit when it came to history and the love of his country in which he was a member of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans and Sons of the America Revolution in Lawrenceville, GA. He enjoyed learning about military history, the Civil War, and confederate soldiers. This passion also led him to visit many different battlefields and military cemetery’s spanning along the entire eastern US with his father and brothers. Randy also loved watching sports, his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks, celebrating Christmas, spending time with his friends, his family, and especially the beaches in the St. Augustine area.
Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents Cephas and Irma Gilbert, T. G. Boaz, and Gene and Leona Bivings, all of Palatka. He is survived by his parents Gene and Nancy of Atlanta, GA, brothers Richie (Barbara) of Little Rock, AR and Ronnie of Atlanta, GA, sister Nancy of Atlanta, GA and niece Megan Bivings of Little Rock, AR. He also is survived by many aunts and uncles including Col. Don (Glenda) Bivings, Joanne (Lewis) Jones, Susan Matthews, Ted Boaz, and a multitude of cousins.
His family and friends mourn the loss of his unique humor, witty spirit, and compassionate soul, but his memory will live on in our hearts forever. A celebration of Randy’s life will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 10, 2017 at St. Johns Family Funeral Home. Memorial gifts may be sent to Wounded Warrior Project and St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
