The Junior Lady Eagles are conference champions and will play for district this weekend.
The junior girls beat the Junior Lady Jacks from Warren earlier last week, but fell to the Junior Lady Lions on Friday.
The Lady Eagles scored 28 total points and held the Lady Jacks to 21.
Coach Shanae Govan said it was a close game, but overall she was proud of the junior girls for the win and for their entire season.
Govan’s top scorer was Anaya Jones, who scored over half of the total points with a total of 17.
“She couldn’t miss,” Govan said.
The only other scorers were Jada Cooks with eight points and Jenna Cate Roberts with three points.
Friday, the team traveled to Hamburg to face the Junior Lady Lions.
Govan said the Hamburg defense was all over her usual top scorers. Jones only scored six points and Cooks only put up three. Hamburg shook the whole Lady Eagle team up so much that it didn’t seem like fans were watching the conference champions.
“These girls have played hard all year, they just had an off night,” Govan said.
“It was just not their night.”
