Johnny Ray McManus, Sr., 65 of Mexia, Texas, died Dec. 31, 2017 at his residence. Johnny was the founder of the NEWS motorcycle club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie “Jack” and Nellie Ruth Spires McManus; a sister, Jackie Ruth McManus; a brother-in-law, Byron Smith; a niece, Nikki Carpenter and a father-in-law, Blake Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Margie McManus; four children, Joey Anderson and wife, Ginger, Varinia Kirk and husband, Bob, Johnny Ray McManus Jr. and wife, Shelina and Kristi Hawkins and husband, Clay; two sisters, Anita McManus of Parkdale and Betty Acord and husband Eddie of Fairfield, Texas; a brother, Leroy McManus of Hamburg; 12 grandchildren; a great grandson; and a number of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Jan. 6 in the Bell Cemetery with the Rev. Eddie Acord officiating.
Pallbearers were Lee Erler, Clay Hawkins, Cade Hawkins, Mike Jones, Larry Parr, Big Man Eric Lundh, Flipper Leslie Neal, Baby Boy Eric Netherland and Toby Bain.
Honorary pallbearers were Paul Everett, John Marley, Clay Smith Brian Acord, Jacob Anderson Joey Anderson, Lil John, Byron Smith, Samuel Smith, Austin Anderson and R.J. Kirk.
