On Star City’s first drive, Randarious Terry made the first two stops, bringing up a third down. Tanner Courson jumped in to bring up the fourth down. The Bulldogs went for it, but Courson and Terry stopped them again and Star City turned the ball over on downs midfield.

The Eagle offense came out and Justin Stokes completed a pass to Amaru Gibbs, giving the Eagles first and 10 on the Bulldogs 38 yard line.

The run plays weren’t gaining many yards, but Stokes completed another pass to Gibbs for a first down, and then another pass to Joseph Monroe. The Eagles were first and goal, and S’quan Duke ran the ball into the end zone. Owen Hart kicked in the extra point, and the Eagles led 7 - 0 early in the game.

The Eagle defense took the Bulldogs four and out again, and the Eagle offense returned to the field. This time the Bulldogs held the Eagles to a punt.
The Bulldogs took over on their own 41 yard line, but the Eagle defense didn’t let them move the ball. Michael Thompson made the first stop of the drive, a move followed by Landon Golden. Deeraymond Herman teamed up with Courson to stop the Bulldogs and bring up fourth down. The Bulldogs went for it again, but were stopped by Courson and Terry.

The Eagles took over midfield with less than six minutes to play in the half. The Eagles moved the ball a few yards at a time. Kaylon Williams caught a first down pass, but the next two plays were only a four yards a piece. They were third and two on their own 30 yard line. Bornslater was stopped bringing up fourth and two. The Eagles lined up in Wild Cat formation, but Star City called a timeout. On the next play, Stokes threw a first down pass to Joseph Monroe, and the Eagles were 23 yards from the goal.

Terry rushed for 11 yards and Gibbs took the ball in the end zone on the next play. The extra point kick was no good, but the Eagles were still leading with 2:52 seconds to play in the first half.

The Eagle defense forced the Bulldogs to punt and the Eagles got one more possession before the half, but didn’t score again.
