Erwin Jackson Turner, 74, of Hamburg, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2017 at the Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village. Mr. Turner was a native of Ashley County. He was a 1960 graduate of Hamburg High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy, having retired in 1990 after 28 years of service. He also worked as a dispatcher for the Ashley County Sheriff’s Department for several years and for Southeast Arkansas Transportation “SEAT.” He was a member of Gardner Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Erwin and Ora Chamberlin Chance Turner; two half-brothers, Bill and Walter Chance, Jr. and a half-sister, Marie Mae Grant and three nephews.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara Chance Foster of Hamburg; five nephews and two nieces.

Graveside services and burial were 10 a.m., Oct. 7 in the Hamburg Cemetery with the Rev. Eugene Howie officiating.

Honorary pallbearers were the Men’s Sunday school class of Gardner Baptist Church.
