The Crossett Pee Wee teams traveled to Monticello Saturday for their weekly jamboree, but only one team pulled off the win.
Both Crossett teams played Warren. The third and fourth grade team lost 0 to 8, but the fifth and sixth graders shut out the Warren Lumberjacks 30 to 0.
“The boys came out strong, and never let up,” fifth and sixth grade coach James Pruitt said about the win.
Pruitt said the boys played a nearly perfect game.
“The offense was clicking on all cylinders, and we played lights out defense,” Pruitt said.
The coaches chose No. 28, Isaiah Bunton, as the Most Valuable Player of the game for the Pee Wee team.
“Isaiah Bunton is a true athlete and very fun to watch,” Pruitt said.
Bunton has been a standout athlete this pee-wee season. In the prior game against Dumas, Bunton scored the only Crossett touchdown with a 70 yard run. This week, he rushed 185 yards and scored three touchdowns for the pee-wee Eagles. Bunton also had four solo tackles and six assists during Saturday’s game.
Pruitt said he believes Bunton is definitely a name Eagle fans will be hearing over the Friday night speakers in the future.
